The Department of Foreign Languages ​​was founded in August 1957. It was headed by Senior instructor of Latin language M. Klymchuk.

In 1973 Ass. Prof. F. Okomeniuk was chosen by competition as the head of the Department. He headed the Department until May 1995.

In 1995 the Department was headed by Ass. Prof. M.M. Zakaliuzhny.

In September 1998, new subjects such as the Ukrainian language and Basis of Pedagogies appeared. The name was changed into the Department of Ukrainian and Foreign languages.

But these subjects were transferred to the Department of Philosophy and Ukrainian studies two years after. The Department received its original name – the Department of Foreign Languages.


H.B. Palasiuk, Candidate of Philosophy Sc., Ass. Prof. worked as the head of the Department (from2000 till 2006).

In 2005 the Department of Foreign Languages ​​and Philosophy as well as the Department of Ukrainian studies were joined and the Department of Foreign Languages appeared, which was headed by Ass. Prof. H.B. Palasiuk.

In 2006 the Department of Medical Informatics with the course of Physics and Special Equipment was joined with the Department of Foreign Languages ​​and Social Studies which was headed by V.P. Martseniuk, M.D., PhD, Professor.


In March 2009, the Department of Medical Informatics with Physics and the Department of Philosophy, Social Studies and Foreign Languages were founded on the basis of the Department of Informatics, Foreign Languages and Social Studies. The new Department was headed by A.M.Pryshliak M.D., PhD, Professor


In July 2011, the Department of Philosophy, Social Studies and Foreign Languages was reorganized. The newly created Department of Foreign Languages and Medical Terminology was headed by O.V. Denefil, Candidate of Medical Sciences, Ass. Prof.

In August 2015, The Department received its original name – the Department of Foreign Languages. It was headed by I.A. Prokop, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Ass. Prof.

Since January 2017, the Department of Foreign Languages has been headed by N.O. Fedchyshyn, Dr.habil.Ed., Prof.
